The sphere of research explored by curator Gabriel Virgilio Luciani (Atlanta, 1995) finds itself at a gaseous intersection between neo-corporealities, poetry, queer theory, magic and objectual affectivity. Understanding the subject —biological, liquid, mineral, gaseous, solid life— as an indefinite and mutating vessel of affect and potentiality is at the axis around which these inquiries orbit. This theoretical basis is realised by poetically and empirically scanning the emotive substrate of our world, seeking new poly-relational cartographies between that which we binarily consider inanimate and animate, extinct and extant, active and passive.

These spheres of research have been explored through formal exhibitions, various publications and poetic interventions in the last six years, many of which carried out while pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Design at l’Escola Massana (2015-2019). From 2016 to 2019, the majority of their practice was realised as curator of the distinguished artist-run space, La Cera 13, founded by young artists who moulded a highly experimental and radical laboratory of reference in El Raval neighbourhood in Barcelona. They hold a Master’s Degree from the Digital Arts Curation program at the Universitat Ramon Llull in Barcelona during which they worked for the director of the gallery Dilalica. In 2019-2020, they participated as a 12-month curatorial resident along with Margot Cuevas at Tangent Projects in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. Over the past six years they have had their shows featured in ArtNou, a festival for emerging art, and Loop video-art festival and have curated and co-curated projects at THEFLOOR, The Charlotte Art League, La Cera 13, TKM Room, l’Escola Massana and àngels barcelona espai 2. In 2020, they co-curated 1 collective show at Tangent Projects along with Margot Cuevas, and curated 3 individual shows in L&B gallery, Galeria H2O and at the Reial Cercle Artístic (as an invited curator for the ‘1+1+1’ curated edition of Loop video-art festival 2020).
